Thonga Beach Lodge

This was our "sea view" room at Thonga, room 1. There was only a small bit of the sea in the view - we think some other rooms might have suited our needs better. The room was adequate and the bed very comfortable, but the deck/patio felt claustrophobic to Mike. He likes a place to spend time if he wakes up very very early and I'm still sleeping, and it was a bit too tight to sit comfortably out on to view birds and the ocean so he wound up taking short walks without me a couple times. The room was kept very clean, though, and we got turtle shaped chocolate at evening turn down. Room 1 is the closest to the bar and dining area, but there was no disturbance of noise from that. The room didn't feel as private as we usually like since other guests did have to walk along the boardwalk in front of our room to get further along to their rooms. It was mostly nice and quiet and meals were good, although one evening they did not enforce the no young children during dinnertime and there were two families each with two children. We had our dinner brought to our room that night. It was a very small resort and the host and all the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.

Maybe we're getting old and our vision is going, but we were both bothered by the lack of lighting in the dressing and bathing area behind the bedroom. The area was large enough with double sinks, separate shower and tub and a small fridge and coffee supplies. Of course, the one good thing about low lighting is how great you think you look - I never bring makeup or bother styling my hair on a trip like this and if the light was good I'd be shocked I'm sure at my appearance.
